Billie Hicks Sr., age 74, of Attica, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. He was born May 11, 1944 in Hippo, KY to the late Oscar and Hazel (Salyers) Hicks. He retired from Pioneer Rubber Company in Willard, Ohio and was a member of the Northern United Baptist Church in Tiro, Ohio where he served as assistant song leader, was president of the men's mission, took pictures at church functions and helped sing on various church radio programs. He enjoyed collecting western comic books and movies, sports cards and car replicas.
He is survived by his wife Claris B. (Combs) Hicks whom he married July 19, 1968; 4 children, Earl (Sue) Johnson of Willard, Judy (Stewart) Zerkle of Republic, Kathy (Walter) Whitehurst of Cape Coral, FL and Billie (Patty) Hicks Jr. of Willard; 9 grandchildren, Carrie Adkins, Bradley (Rob-anna) Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Patrick (Kimberly) Johnson, Jessica Whitehurst, Justin Whitehurst, Olivia (Manny) Rangel, Amelia Whitehurst and William Cody Hicks; 5 great grandchildren, Trenton Johnson, Hope Herrin, Gavin, Noah Adkins and Morgan Adkins; 4 siblings, Perlie Slone, Virginia (Arthur) Hughes, Johnny Hicks and Charlie Hicks, all of Hueysville, KY; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Hazel (Salyers) Hicks; 2 brothers, Haword "Sonny" Hicks and Blaine (Louise) Hicks; a sister, Mary Hicks; brother-in-law Garland Slone and nephew, Rick Hicks.
Visitation will be Monday, October 22, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio where the funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Merlin Dye officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Willard, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern United Baptist Church in Tiro, Ohio. It's difficult to come up with the words to express. I've never had to express myself by typing words to a diseased Brother. It's easier to express yourself in person. I know when my older brother passed away I was at the funeral. Just by being there, made my emotions more easier to express. Even though I wasn't at my brother's funeral today, October 22,18, I was there in HEART. Thinking about him.
