Betty L. Lucas, age 74, resident of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio passed away on  Wednesday, December 11, 2024. She was born on December 30, 1949 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Paul and Edna (Stephens) Lucas.

Betty started her college education at Oral Roberts University and then completed her Bachelors Degree from The Ohio State University as an English major. She worked for 18 years at Akron General Medical Center, holding titles of Nurse’s Aide and Housekeeper during her employment. Following her leave, she devoted herself to her church, Grace Cathedral, at the Cuyahoga Falls facility. Within the church, she was a proof reader for various literature and helped in the mailroom for more than 30 years, processing the boxes of literature for mission work. It was in the mailroom that she was blessed with friend, Sarah Coger. Betty was also a choir member and in the choir is where she met Carol Witsky who became a dear friend as well.

In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Betty loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed collecting Angel figurines.

Betty is survived by her three sisters, Pauline Flournoy of Roy, WA, Christy Landis of Crestline, OH and Rita Ortiz of Mineral Wells, TX; one brother, Ken (Carol) Lucas of Ontario, OH; six nephews; and three nieces.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; two nephews; and one niece.

Betty’s family would like to extend a thank you to Summa Care Hospice in Akron as well as her church friends; the amazing love and support given was something they will never forget.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Became friends with Betty while volunteering in the Shipping Dept. at the complex of Grace Cathedral. Enjoyed many conversations we had and she truly was a devoted Christian lady to the work of God. She will be missed but not forgotten.
