Bernard A. “Bud” Garrett, age 76, resident of Plymouth, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the OSU Medical Center in Columbus. He was born on October 8, 1937 in Plymouth, Ohio to the late Thomas and Laura (Moore) Garrett and had been a life long Plymouth resident. He was a 1955 graduate of Plymouth High School and served in the US Army active and inactive from 1961 to 1967. Bud had worked at the former AMF in Shelby and later retired from MTD in Shelby. He was an active member of the Plymouth First Evangelical Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir, a Past Master of the former Richland Masonic Lodge, Past Commander of the Plymouth American Legion Post #447, a former Plymouth Volunteer Firefighter and was a little league coach and umpire.
He is survived by his wife, Shirleen (Allen) Garrett whom he married on December 30 1960; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Rick Dropsey of Plymouth; a grandson, Nick (Brooke) Wirick of Lexington, OH; two step granddaughters, Ashley (Joe) Christman of Galion, OH; and Chelsea Dropsey of Ontario, OH; and a step great granddaughter, Kennedy Grace Christman.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant grandson, Adam Wirick; and an infant sister, Marilyn Garrett.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Sunday, October 20, 2013 for 3:00 to 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Plymouth First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Roger Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Wounded Warrior Program.
