August John Stacklin “Augie”, 85 of rural Willard passed into eternal life on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Willard Mercy Hospital. He was born June 2, 1938 in Auburn Township to Gilbert and Catherine (Bechtel) Stacklin.
He was a 1956 graduate of New Washington High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps and Reserves after graduation. Augie worked at the former R.R. Donnelly and Sons in Willard for 48 years and was a member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1718 for 67 years.
Augie enjoyed farming, being outdoors, and taking care of his lawn. He was an avid reader, loved giving his famous “around the block tours” and was good at loving thy neighbor by checking in on them and caring for his community. He thoroughly loved his family and spending time with his wife Carol, 14 children, 33 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years Carol (Eldred) Stacklin, and their eleven sons and three daughters: Christopher (Karen) Stacklin, Mark Stacklin, August II (Shelly) Stacklin, Robert (Ellen) Stacklin, Thomas (Fernanda) Stacklin, Marianne (John) McCloskey, Patrick (Stacey) Stacklin, Susan (Michael) Krebs, Michael (Holly) Stacklin, Daniel (Crista) Stacklin, David (Stephanie) Stacklin, Steven (Megs) Stacklin, Matthew Stacklin, and Laura (Joseph) Ringler. He is also survived by siblings and in-laws: James (Esther) Stacklin, Clara (Victor) Kline, Ruth Schimpf, Gerald (Becky) Stacklin, Karen Porter, Ruth Stacklin and brother-in-law Frederick Eldred.
In addition to his parents, Augie is preceded in death by his brothers Richard and John Stacklin, sister Mary Catherine Stacklin, brother-in-laws Charles Porter and Paul Schimpf and sister-in law Mary Lu Eldred.
Friends will be received on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a funeral service on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church, 16209 Co Rd 46, Bellevue, OH 44811. Burial with military honors to follow at St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the nearby Bismark Community Center.
