Alfreda Marie Dannemiller, age 88, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on July 11, 1927 in Seneca County, Ohio, to the late Alfred and Cora (Bullinger) Hartenstein and had been a resident of the Willard area the majority of her life.
Alfreda was the valedictorian of Bettsville High School, class of 1945. After a short college and work career, she married and devoted her life to her husband, children, and family farm. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth. Having a big heart, she loved everyone unconditionally.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Susan) Dannemiller of Shelby, James (Carol) Dannemiller of Shelby, Andrew Dannemiller of Willard, Ruth (Ronald) Sawyer of Findlay, Pauline (Greg) Bogner of Willard, Barbara (John) Gosser of Shelby, John (Barbara) Dannemiller of Shelby, Marie (Eric) Baumgartner of Oxford, and Arlene (Kevin) Eidt of Shelby; 28 grandchildren: 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Paul (Evelyn) Hartenstein of Wakeman, Stephen (Carmie) Hartenstein of Tiffin, Judith Schleter of Tiffin, Gregory (Elaine) Hartenstein of Henrietta, NY, Patrick (Ann) Hartenstein of New Riegel, and Michael (Sue) Hartenstein of Fremont; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by Gerald, her husband of 48 years, daughter, Jeannette (Donald) Schroeder of Shelby, her parents, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, sisters Ethella (Albert) Cook of Fremont, Gladys (Raymond) Cunningham of Green Springs, Mercedes (Stanley) Miller of Tiffin, and brother-in-law, Robert Schleter of Tiffin.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Father Nick Weibl officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Plymouth, Ohio. To the Dannemiller Family – my condolences in your loss. Though I did not know Mrs. Dannemiller personally – I did work with some of the family while at WCS and wanted to send them my love and prayers. Now I realize where they received their very diligent work ethic. May fond memories of their ‘mom’ get them through this very difficult time.

So sad to hear Alfreda is gone. I grew up with this family from 6 yrs old through high school and she was one of my mom’s closest friends. As many times as I moved out of state and came back home, I would always go see her. I will miss visiting her, always went to get rhubarb every year and see what flowers she had growing. Alfreda, you will always be on my mind, I will miss you.
