Alan Douglas Brooks, age 70, resident of Attica, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo. He was born on January 28, 1947 in Shelby, Ohio to the late Arthur John and Mabel Marie (Hoover) Brooks. Alan was a 1965 graduate of Plymouth High School and went on to working line construction for N & W Railroad in Bellevue. He enjoyed fishing, trains, and watching westerns.
Alan is survived by 3 step children, Shirley (Harvey) Puckett of Greenwich, Alice (Jerry) Hamons of Delphi, and Danny (Darlene) Kilgore of California; a sister, Joan (Tim) Alfrey of Michigan; a brother, Clay (Sue) Brooks of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Tackett Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Tackett) Brooks; 3 sisters, Erma Branham, Wanda Brooks, and Marjorie Ryder; 6 brothers, David, Donald, John, Michael, Mark, and David Brooks; 6 step sons, Raymond, George, Kenneth, Jim, Ted, Roy Kilgore; and a step daughter, Ruth Ann Montgomery.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM where funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Ricky Branham officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to the Willard Train Museum. My brother was a wonderful brother, a good-hearted man, he was a kind and caring gentle-giant… My heart is saddened beyond description. I know Al is at rest and at peace…. I will join him in the Family Circle someday.
