Curtis E. Capelle, age 73, of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Curtis was born on December 26, 1950 in Willard, Ohio to the late Christian “Curt” and Alma (Milano) Capelle. Curtis proudly served in the U.S. Navy where he served on the John F Kennedy Aircraft Carrier. He was an acting commander of the Willard American Legion, enjoyed playing his guitar and riding his motorcycle or driving his corvette, and most of all, going to his grandchildren’s events.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marianne L. (Gates) Capelle, whom he married on February 18, 1972; daughter, Amanda (Keith) Stein of Willard; 3 grandchildren, Lucas, Landon, and Lillian Stein; sisters, Vickie (Alan) Velker of Willard and Jayne (Ron) Craig of Willard; brother, Richard (Cynthia) Capelle of Willard; and 3 nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, James Capelle and a nephew, Brian Velker.
Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of his service at 1:00 PM with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. It was sad to hear the news about Curt’s passing. As a fellow classmate of the WHS Class of 1969, I had hoped to see him at our recent class reunion, but he wasn’t able to attend.
