Dale R. Schlatter, age 83, resident of Willard, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2006 at the Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. He was born on January 9, 1923 in Archbold, OH to the late John and Emma (Buhrer) Schlatter and had been a resident of Willard since 1969. He graduated from Archbold High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University, and a Master’s Degree from Indiana State University and had done additional work at Miami University. He was an educator for 30 years, where he was Superintendent of schools at, Parkway Local, Colonel Crawford and Willard City Schools, where he retired. He was a military service veteran who fought during W.W. II. He was manager of the Huron County Auto Club for 2 1/2 years, director of Community Development for the City of Willard for 5 years, a member of the ROMEO Club, a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Willard and was a member of the honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Schlatter; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Susan Schlatter of Muncie, IN; two daughters, Dr. Dana Danhoff of Clearwater, FL. and Ann Schlatter of Columbus; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Ryan and Tess Schlatter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma (Buhrer) Schlatter; and 3 brothers and sister-in-laws, John Schlatter Jr., Paul and Fran Schlatter, and Carl and Barb Schlatter.
There will be a memorial service with military funeral rites, Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Willard, with Rev. Dale Epple officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
