I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of my favorite aunt. I have a wealth of fond memories of happy times spent in her home while growing up – she was a wonderful woman and will be missed by many.
One memory is the time she saw a mouse in the bread drawer – this city girl turned farm wife, who could chop the head off a chicken without hesitation (but that’s another story) screeching and jumping on a kitchen chair when confronted by a mere mouse was a sight to see!
Even though I’m way out here in Oklahoma, I’ve thought of her often and always with a smile at whatever memory it was – and I’m terrible about writing so she never knew how often and with what affection she was remembered. But the memories will remain forever in my heart.
