Delores P. Kalb age 84, beloved mother, and grandmother of New Washington, Ohio passed away surrounded by family at Altercare in Bucyrus on Monday, December 16, 2024 after a battle with illness.  She was born on May 11, 1940 in Tiro Ohio to the late Ward and Doris McCracken.

Early in life she worked at Landmark in New Washington where she assisted the local farming community in growing higher yield crops.  She was a member of the New Washington EMT, a role she held with pride and dedication.  Later in life Delores was dedicated to nurturing young minds entrusted to her through her childcare work.  As a firm believer in her faith and a member of the Chatfield Pietist church, Delores found great joy and purpose in providing unwavering support and love to those who needed it most with visitations and providing rides to others whenever needed.

Delores enjoyed gardening and cultivating beautiful plants by spending countless hours tending to them. She found joy in the beauty of nature and her garden was always a sight to behold.  As an avid sewer she made many Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for loved ones.

She was a graduate of Tiro High School who later earned her Business Administration degree from Mansfield Business College and was on the Dean's List.

She is survived by her four children, CJ “James” Kalb, Deborah Scott, Richard Kalb and Jonathan “Randy” (Angela) Kalb;  Grandchildren Ian Kalb and Kelly Kalb; Brothers Carl (Marilyn) McCracken and Walter (Frankie) McCracken; Brother-in-law Delbert Koons and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Delores is preceded in death by sisters Marilyn Koons and Pamela Keith; infant sister Patricia McCracken; and son-in-law Thomas Scott.

Visitation will be held at Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 4:00-7:00PM.  Her Funeral service is at the Evangelical Pietist Church in Chatfield, Ohio on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10:00AM with Pastor DeZurik officiating.  Burial will follow at Biddle Cemetery in Crestline, Ohio.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s hospital or the Chatfield Pietist church.  Online condolences may be made to Delores’ family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com

I have so many great & fun memories of Dee that I don't know where to begin. My sister and I spent summers with her and the kids on the farm. She gave me a Raggedy Ann doll in 1964 and it still has a special place in my home today. She will be sorely missed.

I have such fond memories of Dee. There was never a harder worker nor a more dedicated person to the children of this world. I remember several times when I was seeking aid for a project while teaching at Buckeye Central and Dee was the first to volunteer. I feel certain that her good work continues in heaven. For her family, Julie, and I pray that the memories you share will provide comfort in this time of grief.

To the Kalb Family: Dee was such a loving and supportive person for our family, and one of our mom’s closest and dearest friends. I can remember so many events and special moments that Dee was a part of. Quick to give a big, heartfelt hug and her laugh was so bright and delightful. This amazing woman played a huge role in so many lives…most definitely ours as well. Dee will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with you and our deepest sympathy to all of you! May you find peace and comfort in the endless fun and loving memories of Dee you hold in your hearts!

Our family is deeply saddened with Dees passing. I do not recall a time in my life when Dee was not an important person in our families life. The friendship between her and mom was a life long friendship that was more like sisters! Your family has our deepest condolences!
