Evangelina M. Garcia, age 93, of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at her home. She was born on September 6, 1931 in Del Rio, Texas to the late Tomas and Mercedes (Salazar) Maltos. Evangelina worked at Pioneer Balloon and helped out with migrant programs. She loved playing Bingo and was a great cook. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family and watching her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her daughters, Estela (Robert) Luna of Willard; Gloria (Jesus Luevano) Garcia of Willard; sons, Herbert (Melissa) Garcia Jr. of Easley, South Carolina; Jesus Garcia of Anderson, South Carolina; and Harvey (Patti) Garcia of Anderson, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Garcia Sr., a granddaughter, Sahara Luna; a brother, Juan Maltos; and a sister, Dora Maltos.
Per Evangelina’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, 25 West Perry St., Willard, Ohio 44890.

I grew up on the opposite corner of the same block. I went to school with her sons. I didn't know this fine lady all that well but had occasion to say hi while passing by and she always said hi back with a smile. Anyone who had the pleasure of talking to her would come away with the feeling they were talking to their own mom. She was second to none and as close to perfect as one could be. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your Dear Mother! She was a blessing to me. She took me under her wing at Pioneer and taught me how to strip those balloonsfrom their form. Of course she could do four to my one! She was so proud of you all. Since I knew all of you I was so impressed with the love and gratitude she had for being able to raise a family of Good kids!
