Michael George Veletean, age 77, lifelong resident of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on April 10, 1946 in Willard to the late Samuel and Geneva E. (Haas) Veletean.
Mike was a Vietnam veteran who retired from Midwest Industries in Willard as a supervisor. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard and the Willard American Legion. Following retirement, Mike assisted Secor Funeral Home with daily tasks for over 10 years.
Mike took great pride in his well-manicured lawn during the summer and made sure the walks were always clean of snow during the winter months. Throughout retirement, he enjoyed gambling and day trips. His greatest joy of all was attending his kids and grandkids activities and games.
Mike, affectionately known as “Baldy” to those closest to him, left a lasting impression on a lot of people. He will forever be missed by his loving wife, Linda (Heisler) Veletean, whom he married on August 26, 1972; two children and their spouses, Ashley (Tony) Daub and Jason (Katie) Veletean; four grandchildren, Zach (Caytlyn) Veletean, Ethan Daub, Kennedy Daub and Nash Veletean; two brothers, Thomas (Mary) Veletean and Jack (Phyllis) Veletean; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Family and friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Mass to begin at 11:00 a.m. with Very Rev. Christopher Mileski officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard. Linda, I’m so sorry for your loss of Mike. I did hear bits and pieces of what happened to him when we were at Larry Blankenship’s funeral but I didn’t express my condolences at the time. I’m sorry, no excuses for that.

I have nothing but respect for Mike. He was my Supervisor when I first started on days at MTD. We hit it of right away and became friends. It didn't matter where he would be and he saw me he would yell out Rube! I will him in his truck go by my house and yell out and wave. He was a worker in very sense he was always doing something. Not even his heart pump would slow him down he lived life to the fullest. Rest in Peace my friend!

Wish I could go back to the 80s from time to time to enjoy growing up on Maplewood. Mike was a big part of that. It was always comforting in a large snowstorm to hear a snow thrower outside and see Mike taking care of the sidewalk for the entire block. Mom said he would never take money but he would take cheap beer as a thank you 😌 Rip Iron Mike (I may have given him that nickname 🤔)
