Doris M. Strohm, age 101, of New Washington, Ohio passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Feridean Commons in Westerville, Ohio. She was born May 17, 1922 in Lykins Township, Ohio to the late John C. and Esther (Schimpf) Shealy. Doris moved with her family to a farm near New Washington at the age of five. She graduated from New Washington High School in 1940. Doris married Kenneth Strohm on November 1, 1943. Doris was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Gail) Strohm of Westerville, OH; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Strohm, Dana O’Neal, Lisa Oyama and Kelly Pryor; 8 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Terry (Janet) Snyder of Galion; sister-in-law, Vi Shealy; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Strohm and her parents, John and Esther Shealy; 2 daughters, Linda Snyder and Juleen Strohm; 4 brothers, Ivan Shealy and his wife, Neva, and Kenneth Shealy and his wife, Virginia and Dalton Shealy and his wife Eileen and Weldon Shealy; one sister, Miriam Yaussy and her husband Jim; infant brother, Lyle and infant sister.
A graveside service will be on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington, Ohio, with Rev. Kevin Mohr officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington. Memorials may be given to the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
