James E. Briegel, 75, of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at The Willows in Willard, Ohio. He was born on May 2, 1946 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late Cleo and Fern (Erwin) Briegel.
A 1964 Buckeye Central High School graduate, Jim went on to work for Swan Rubber in Bucyrus before devoting 44 years to RR Donnelleys in Willard. In his spare time, he would take on painting and wallpaper jobs.
Through Jims life, he was always supportive of his kids dreams no matter the cost and when it came to his grandkids, there was no bigger fan. He loved to be outside working in his garden, tending to the house or just sitting on his deck. Before the passing of his wife Wanda, they would enjoy visiting Amish country, making day trips to East Harbor and visiting their favorite place, Marblehead Lighthouse. But they most enjoyed spending time with family, watching their grandkids play baseball or softball, basketball and volleyball. Jim lived out his faith as a member of St Johns Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, council member and deacon.
Jim is survived by three children, Laura (Randy) Aichholz, Mark (Lori) Briegel and Beth (Cortney) Clewell; six grandchildren, Courtney (Wyatt) Wills, Lyndsay (Kyle) Walton, Brooklynn Briegel, Zach Aichholz (fiancé, Isabelle Biglin), Clayton Clewell and Samantha (Ron) Greathouse; seven great grandchildren, Caleb, Madelyn, Layne and Jade Wills, Alaynna Walton, Derek and Jonathon Greathouse; brother, Ralph (Sandy) Briegel; sister-in-law, Marilyn Briegel; brother-in-law, Eldon Predmore; and three nephews and two nieces.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Briegel, who passed away on September 11, 2015; grandchild, Connor James Briegel; two brothers, William and Robert Briegel; and sister, Rosalyn Predmore.
Private services will be held. Burial will take place at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions can be made to Jims daughter, Laura Aichholz, to purchase a memorial monument in honor of Jim and Wanda.
