Dorothy Marilyn Hedeen passed away peacefully. "Your wings were ready but our hearts wanted more time." She was the daughter of Charles and Rose Guthrie of Shiloh, Ohio. Dorothy was born at home in the year 1928. She attended Shiloh High School and graduated in 1946.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Eric; sister, Helen and brother Robert. She is survived by her son, James (wife Susan); daughter, Kristin; sister, Phaenon; five grandchildren, Joseph, Melissa, Megan, Matthew, and Lucas; five great grandchildren, Maci, Molli, Hannah, and twins Johnny and Lillian; and many nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

Family was one of Dorothy's passions. She was a world traveler and settled in Plymouth when her husband retired to be near her father and family. Her home was always beautiful, busy and the door was always open. She loved gardening and canning and probably shucked a million elderberries in her life time. In 1949 she joined the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member for 72 years of service to the Veterans the Community and our Country. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Plymouth where she volunteered her time.

No viewing will be held. Services provided by Secor Funeral Home will be graveside at Mount Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio on Friday the 6th of August at 11am. Family and friends are invited. Service will be officiated by the American Legion Auxiliary. There will be no reception. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in her name. I was so sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. She was a great neighbor and had many pleasant conversations on her back porch. Also got a lot of great recipes on that same porch. Her and John helped us when we first stated the summer Plymouth girl's summer softball program. The first year they sponsored two teams and helped us whenever they could. My sympathy goes out to all of Dorothy's family and prayers to all..

Dottie was my mother’s best friend. I met her once and I see why they became friends. Dorthy was a wonderful lady. Rest In Peace.

To all the Hedeen family - In my opinion, Dorothy was one of the "grand ladies of Plymouth." Her grace, kindness and genteel manner inspired many of us, as did her amazing culinary talents. Nothing ever seemed to ruffle her feathers - she handled adversity and joy with the same even temperament. I have looked up to her for many years and I have truly missed her since she left Plymouth. Working with her at the church, I learned a great deal thanks to her patience and instruction, and she will always hold a place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
