George E. Hicks, age 53, of Willard, Ohio left this earth peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2015 at his home. He was born on September 21, 1962 in Ocala, Florida to the late George and Josie Marie (Ousley) Hicks. George most recently worked for Coles Distributing in Milan but drove big rigs most of his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army for a 4 year term and was a tank system mechanic.
He is survived by a daughter, Gillian Hicks of Willard; grandson, Roman Butler of Republic who he adored; 3 brothers and 4 sisters, Bobby Hicks of Shelby, Ruben Hicks of Greenwich, Elmer (Sue) Hicks of Mt. Vernon, Sheila (Mitchel) Prater of North Fairfield, Lilly (Carl) Bistline of Conklin, MI, Bonnie Barnett of New London and Janice Williams of Norwalk and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Josie Marie (Ousley) Hicks and baby brother Michael Lee Hicks.
He would give the shirt off his back to anyone especially his best friends that are too numerous to mention. They also gave back in return when George became too ill to work. George loved tinkering on small engines and vehicles with the guys in his pole barn.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 2:00-3:00 PM at the Willard American Legion with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM with military rites and there will be a time of reflection to follow. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com
