Carl E. (“Butch”) Bogner, age 80, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Willard Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on September 11, 1935 in Willard, Ohio to the late Frank and Hilda (Sauber) Bogner and was a Willard resident his entire life. He worked at the Pioneer Rubber Company in Willard from 1953 to 1978 prior to becoming the Treasurer at the Willard City Schools from 1978 to 1993, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard, where he was a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, member of the RCIA Team and past president of the 55 Plus Club. He was also a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Willard where he was a past Grand Knight and Secretary. He was a life member of the Willard Elks Lodge #1370, a Red Cross 20 gallon blood donor, a Willard Volunteer Fireman for 41 years, and a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Peggy (Moomaw) Bogner whom he married June 9, 1956; children, Dennis (Lisa) Bogner, Mike (Jackie) Bogner, Greg (Pauline) Bogner all of Willard, Cindy (Andy) Thornton of New Albany, Debbie (Don) Schloemer of Willard; Grandchildren Joseph, Elizabeth, Melissa, Phillip, Lindsay, Luke, Madison, Paul (Shawn), and Kelli Bogner; Benjamin, Zachary, and Kate Thornton; Jacob (Ali), Jonathan, Joshua, and Jillian Schloemer; Great Grandchild Dylan Bogner, brother James Bogner of Lima, sisters-in-law Yvonne, Helen and Joan Bogner, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hilda (Sauber) Bogner; Grandson, Nathan Michael Bogner; one sister, Helen Ellis and six brothers, Earl, Donald, Harold, Thomas, Robert and Paul Bogner.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 1-5 pm at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio. The funeral mass will be Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10:30 am at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard with Fr. Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard, Ohio with military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church and School. Please accept my families heartfelt condolences and sympathy. I enjoyed working with Butch as an employee at Willard. He always took an interest in everyone and I know that he is missed. I found out through the Ohio School Board Magazine today about your loss.
To the Bogner family, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Butch. He was truly a GREAT guy. I have many fond memories of any interaction I had ever had with him. He left a great legacy in his children who continue to follow in his footsteps. That is all the further you have to look to see Butch’s greatness!
