Thomas Randal Coder, age 60, passed away peacefully at his home on November 10, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He had courageously fought a 4 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Tom was born on September 6, 1960, in New Washington, Ohio to Doyle "Fuzz" Coder and Freda (Niedermier) Coder, both deceased.
Surviving are his three children: Chelsea (Tyler) Aker of Red Key, Indiana and their three children, Taven, Emalee and Saige, a son, Cory Coder, of Plano, Texas, and a daughter, Lauren Coder, of Ashland, Ohio. Also surviving are his three siblings: Sandra (Ron) Plano of The Villages, Florida, Scott (Gerry) Coder of Tiro, Ohio, and Ted (Sandi) Coder of New Washington.
A resident of New Washington most of his life, Tom graduated with the 1978 class of Buckeye Central High School. After graduation, he went on to work at Buckeye Steel Rule Die Company for 13 years and finished with Newman Technologies for 21 years until his illness forced him to retire from a job he loved. Tom's most valued possession was his family Bible. Above all, he was always selfless, putting his children first.
In his spare time, he loved to be in nature and work in his yard and also arrange his flower boxes. Listening to his favorite music, he really enjoyed playing his trap drum set. Everyone knew Tom by his huge grin and infectious laughter. He was known for his helpful "tips" on how to fix things or how to deal with stress in life. He often told his children, "When you feel all tensed up, force yourself to smile. Just force it! It will make a big difference!"
Keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Following current health and safety restrictions, a private celebration of life will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Saint Bernard Catholic School Endowment Fund.
