John F. Shell, age 68, of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus, Ohio. He was born on December 22, 1946 in Bucyrus to the late Joseph M. and Thelma (Black) Shell. John was in the National Guard for 6 years, worked at PPG in Crestline for 27 years and was a self-employed farmer. He liked to collect tractors and raise livestock.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne (Hicks) Shell whom he married on August 10, 1968; 3 children, Angela L. (Robert) Niedermier, Brian J. (Tina) Shell, and Steven Shell and Erica Wiparina, all of New Washington; 6 grandchildren, Brent (Heather) Slone, Brian Slone, Brandon (Taylor) Coll, Zachary (Emily) Niedermier, Derek Shell and Abby Wiparina; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Keith (Carla) Clawson of Shelby, Joseph L. (Betty) Shell of New Washington and Michael E. Shell of New Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Robert Clawson and sister Carolyn Wurm.
Visitation will be at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington with Fr. Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington.. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association for Diabetes Camp.
