It is with great sadness that the family of Layne Vanderpool announce her passing.
Layne was born on July 12, 2001 and perished on August 16, 2020 in the Mercy Health Hospital in Lorain, Ohio due to complications stemming from an automobile accident that occurred on June 30, 2020. Layne had many friends and family who will attest to her strength, stubbornness and willingness to achieve.
A graduate of Buckeye Central High School, she had completed her freshman year at the University of Toledo where she was studying Speech Pathology. Throughout her short life, she always kept a full schedule that included various sports, music, academics, and countless hours spent with friends and family.
She is survived by her mother, Theresa Cochran and step-father, Christopher Seibert, older siblings, Cassandra Cochran (fiancé Colton Cole), Brandon and Sam (Kirk) Cochran and a twin sister, Leah Vanderpool. Also surviving are grandparents, Gene and Norma White and Annette Smith; 2 uncles, Dan and Cody Smith; a cousin, Jordan Smith; 2 nieces, Isabella and Charlotte, and 2 nephews, Blake and Elliott. Remaining close family members are a half-sister, Whitney Vanderpool and step-siblings, Nathan and Lia Seibert. She is preceded in death by grandfather, Danny Smith.
Family and friends may visit at Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. There will be a memorial service at the Buckeye Central Football Stadium in New Washington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 with Pastor Brian Odey officiating.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and wanting everyone to remain safe, we ask that family and friends pay their respects in a timely manner while social distancing and wearing a mask when you are able.

Having a hard time finding the words...
I only knew Layne & Leah & the rest of the family from the hospital (OhioHealth), those long nights watching a parents worst nightmare, thinking of my own child.
I spent some time with Layne that first night after she was stabalized washing her hair and it gave me almost 2 hours time to pray over her & for her sweet family.
I was shocked & my heart broke when I heheard this morning that she passed. She had a fiery spirit & I know she will be missed terribly.
Praying for peace & comfort for all the family, but Leah especially. I am so sorry.
