Charles “Art” Arduff Berger, age 93, of Attica, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at The Willows at Willard, Ohio. He was born on January 25, 1921 in New Washington, Ohio to the late Rudolf and Clara Ida (Magsig) Berger. He was self employed most of his life driving truck and was owner of the Attica Hotel Bar, Surf Lounge, Bay Bell Diner and Bayview Carryout in Sandusky. Art was a member of the American Legion and he enjoyed deer hunting, farming and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He served in the Army as a machine gunner during WW II being stationed in New Guinea and the Phillipines.
Art is survived by a daughter Nan (Jim) Schumacher of Attica and a son, Robert (Jane) Rule of Ft. Pierce, Florida; grandchildren, Sheri, Shaun, Mike, Robbie, Julie, Kim, Jason, Justin, Rory, Kippi and Randy; numerous great grandchildren who were the apple of his eye; brother, Rudolf (Leona) Berger, Jr of Bucyrus, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Inez (Phillips) Berger; his parents Rudolf and Clara Ida (Magsig) Berger; four brothers, Kermit, Robert, Richard and Carl Berger and two sons, Frederick and Norman Rule.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio where a funeral service will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Thomas Pairan officiating.
