Dorothy L. Sloan, age 87, of Shelby, Ohio passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 in MedCentral Shelby Hospital following a short illness. She was born on June 15, 1926 in Shelby to the late Lester and Georgianna Grace (Mellick) Seaman. Dorothy lived in the Shiloh and Plymouth area moving to Shelby in 1996. She was formerly employed at the Shelby Salesbook Co. and later at Shelby Mutual Insurance. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth serving on the Altar Guild, teaching Sunday school for 20 years and was church secretary at one time. She was also a member of the Shelby Senior Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Lange of West Lake, OH; and Nancy Marie (Jack) Dunagan of Rochester Hills, MI; seven grandchildren, David (Debbie) Hall of Spring, TX; Jeff Lange (Jennifer) of Spring, TX; Jason (Cindy) Lange of North Olmstead, OH; Brian (Nicole) Dunagan of Keller, TX; Erin (James) Clemons of McKinney, TX; Kevin (Susan) Dunagan of Plano, TX; and Megan (Chuck) Sanna of Dallas, TX; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (Bob) Heifner of Shiloh; and Mary (Wayne) McLaughlin of Marysville, OH; one brother, Dean Seaman of Shelby.
She is preceded in death by her husband and a son-in-law, Rick Lange.
Funeral services will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Blanche Tyree officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio and friends are welcome to return to the church for a luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dorothy played cards every Sunday with my mother-in-law until she passed away in 2009(Ruth Steiner)Enjoyed still seeing her when she shopped at cornell’s–Thoughts and prayers to her family!

Sending my condolences to Dorthy’s family – I don’t recall if I ever met any of you but learned about you thru conversation with Dorthy as she was one of my clients in the beauty shop for years. She spoke highly of all of you with pride and admiration – she was a kind soul – so sorry for your loss.
