Carol A. Echelbarger, age 76, of Plymouth, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 12, 1937, to the late Gayle and Elsie (Miller) Cobb and had been a life long Plymouth area resident. Carol was a 1955 graduate of Plymouth High School where she was crowned the 1955 Homecoming Queen. She had work at the former Shelby Depot, Fate, Root and Heath in Plymouth, R.R. Donnelley in Willard, and would be best known for working at Mack’s Market in Plymouth. She was a Cleveland Indians fan, enjoyed mushroom hunting and loved to spoil her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Rick Echelbarger of Plymouth; Amy (Brad) Wagner of Shelby; and Jeff (Candy) Echelbarger of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Ashley Cross, Alexis Washburn, Jacob and Aliya Echelbarger, and Kyle Rhinehart; two brothers, Jim Cobb of Ontario; and Charles (Jeanette) Cobb of Plymouth; five sisters-in-law, Donna Dawson of Shelby; Lucille Ross of Plymouth; Gertrude Beatty of Adario; Betty Gilger of Shiloh; and Ella Jane Abert of Greenwich; a special niece, Doris Arnold; and special friends, Pat Baker, Lois Payne and Alice Clabaugh.
In addition to his parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Don “Mac” Echelbarger in 1993; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothea Arnold and Jeannette Broderick.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 with Reverend Linda Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of North Central Ohio or the Shelby Public Health League or the Plymouth FFA. Please accept my condolences for the passing of Carol. Always enjoyed seeing and talking with her and hearing her hearty laugh. I will be keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers and may your faith, family and friends be with you always.
So sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. I worked with Carol at RRD in the 60’s and remember her as a really sweet fun-loving gal. As I recall, her husband was in the service at the time and I remember going to her home (which I believe she shared with her father-in-law) and having a great time. Great memories of my time with Carol. I know that she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
