Francis Edward Wurm, age 83, resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 17, 1929 in Seneca County, Ohio to the late Edmund and Rose (Faeth) Wurm. Francis worked at the New York Central Railroad for two years as a brakemen, a job he really enjoyed; the North Central Egg and Poultry for 10 years; and the Mansfield Brass and Aluminum for 34 years. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and enjoyed farming, fishing, woodworking and cutting firewood. He loved anything involving trains and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Francis is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jane Leichty; seven children, Barbara J. (James) Pierce of Bucyrus, Diane C. (Dennis) Omwake of Sterling, Virginia, Alice R. (Alan) Roush of Tiffin, June E. (Kenneth) Geiger of New Washington, Lawrence E. (Sharon) Wurm of New Washington, Norman E. (Crista Heibertshausen) Wurm of Republic, and Julius L. (Lynnette) Wurm of Sycamore; 16 grandchildren, Ty (Alayna) Pierce, Megan (Robert) Wurm, Christopher (Erin) Omwake, Eliah (Lauri) Omwake, Joshua Omwake, Kimberly (Charles) Groth, Bradley (Ahna) Roush, Jason Geiger, Jennifer Geiger, Joanne Wurm, Sarah Wurm, Brittany Wurm, Brandon Wurm, Brent Wurm, Bryan Wurm and Brett Wurm; 9 great grandchildren, Liam and Nora Pierce, Mya and Isla Wurm, Neil and Cecilia Groth, Wyatt, Carlie and Kendra Geiger; three siblings, Viola Schalk of Tiffin, Ralph (Louise) Wurm of New Washington, and Margaret Breyley of Bucyrus; brother-in-law, Ray McCall of Bucyrus; and special friend and care giver, Laurie Thomas.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Germaine Flock; and brother-in-law, Florus Schalk.
Friends may call on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at St. Bernard Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Father Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Dear Families, I remember a lot of fun times with Francie, especially the Christmas parties. He was always one to have a good time with everyone. I know you will miss him, but may you find peace in your memories knowing he is in heaven. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
