Donald C. Cunningham, age 80, of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 30, 1931 in Willard, Ohio to the late DeWitt and Pearl (Chroninger) Cunningham. Donald was a graduate of Plymouth High School and then went on to join the US Air Force. He worked for the former Shelby Business Forms and retired in 1993. Don also loved working as a part-time projectionist at the Plymouth Drive-in Theater and the Castamba Theater in Shelby. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth and enjoyed ham radio, gardening, being a handyman and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his wife, Earnestene (Tackett) Cunningham, whom he married on October 15, 1954; children, Don (Sue) Cunningham of Lakeside, Ohio, Jean (Glenn) Click and Rich (Schellie) Cunningham, both of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Cunningham of Plymouth and Tom Cunningham of San Benito, Texas and two sisters, Carol Brooks of Plymouth and Evelyn Briggs of Lake Mary, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Guy Cunningham Jr.
Friends may call on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Linda Kaufman and Rev. Doug Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Sorry to hear about the passing of your father.
Bob came home this morning & told me. He always took the time to speak with everyone for a few minutes and always had a smile on his face. He was always so nice to me, when he would come into Mack’s to shop. He always talked fondly of his family with pride. I’m sure he will be dearly missed. I remember the day my mom passed as I pulled up in the driveway to her house, as I shut off my car & sat there in silence, thinking to myself from this day forward my life would never be the same and it hasn’t. To lose my mother has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with. It will be seven years & I still find myself in tears. But the wonderful & loving memories of her, helps me finish my journey through life.
So stay strong & keep in mind all the memories you made & shared as a family.
