John L. “Lee” Pratt, age 89, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, OH. He was born on March 13, 1921 to the late DeMorris and Lela (Burras) Pratt. Lee was the owner and operator of Lee’s Drive-In in Willard. He also was active in selling real estate and investments as well. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII where he received a Bronze Star serving with the men that glided into Normandy on D-Day and pushed on to the Battle of the Bulge. Lee supported the local Boy Scouts Association and ball teams. He was also active in local fund raising and the Willard community development.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Pratt of Temperance, MI; and Jacqueline Lee Pratt of Sylvania Twp., OH; a son, Richard Leland Pratt of Bowling Green, OH; a granddaughter, Kayla Pratt of Sylvania Twp., OH; a niece, Carolyn and Tom Wilcoxen of Ohio; and a nephew, William and Erika Griffin of Ohio.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Margurite Griffin and a brother, DeMorris Pratt.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Monday, January 24, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Doug Winner officiating. My first “real” job outside of the muck was for Lee. (Lee’s Drive In) Him and I worked the blizzard of “78”. He is/was an icon for Willard. RIP Lee, It was an honor to know you.
