Frances Irene Kaple, 98, of New Washington, died October 27, 2010 at Hillside Acres in Willard.
Frances was born on June 3, 1912 in Auburn Township, Crawford County, Ohio to Martin and Sophina Burger Hiler. She lived in the New Washington area most of her life, growing up in North Auburn. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking pies, sewing and crocheting. Frances, as a grandmother, was a great story teller, making the characters come alive. She was very involved with activities at Hillside Acres.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcine (Schreck) and Robert Taylor of Shelby, Grover P. and Norma Kaple of New Washington and Glenn and Jackie Kaple of Tiro; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and Lanny Showers of Marion, Robert M. Schreck of Grove City; Laurie and Jeff Kirk of Shelby and Todd and Wendy Schreck of Medina; Dan Kaple of New Washington; Tim and Diane Kaple of Bucyrus and Dr. Eric Kaple of Willard, two step-grandchildren, Kellie and Phil Ondich of Bucyrus; and Michael Richardson of Bucyrus; eleven great-grandchildren Brandon Showers, Courtney Showers, Erin Kirk, Jennifer (Tyler) Kocher, Logan Kirk, Mason Schreck, Evan Schreck, Dani Kaple, Amy (Matt) Nims, Josh Kaple, and Jamie (Josh) Greenick; three step-grandchildren; Gabrielle, Zane and Donna Richardson; two sisters, Beatrice Fackler and Helen Green, both of Mansfield; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Arline and Richard Walliser of Attica; Doris (Charles) Kaple of New Washington and Della Kaple of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover A. Kaple; a grandson, Ean Kaple; a son-in-law, Robert J. Schreck; seven sisters, Hilda Hiler, Emma Fink, Eleanor Huffman, Florence Snyder, Verna Keller, Alma Wurm and Delores Kaple; and by two brothers, Clyde and Oliver Hiler.
The family will receive friends at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington on Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Father James Steinle officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Bernard Church Inprovements Fund.
