Dorcus Jean Hale, age 67, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. She was born March 20, 1942 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late William and Ollie (Webb) Hale. She enjoyed reading, collecting dolls and traveling. She loved country music and most of all spending time with all her family. She was a second mother to many nieces and nephews. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for eight years.
She is survived by four brothers, Arthur Jay (Anna) Hale of Plymouth, George Doc (Edna) Hale of Martin, KY, Monte (Rebecca) Hale of Plymouth and Bill (Linda) Hale of Plymouth; four sisters, Regina (Frank) Welch of Plymouth, Dolly (Bruce) Bistline of Plymouth, Rietta (Cliffton) Stumbo of Shiloh and Nina Hale of Plymouth; one sister-in-law, Ezella Hale of New London; and numerous niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lawerance Hale and an infant sister, Barbara Jean Hale.
Friends may call at the Broadway Baptist Church in Shelby on Sunday, July 12, 2009 beginning at 11:00AM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 11:00AM with Pastors Jim Owens and Bill King officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.
