Condolences

Dr. Lorraine Becker - Jun 7, 2009

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Major and Alex’s extended family and friends. While I only knew Alex a short time, he had a major impact on the Palm Springs Unfied School District. Not only did we consider him a technology partner, but he was a trouble shooter, planner and friend. He also wanted to help students and had just recently been asked to join the Board of Directors of The Pinnacle Fund, the Foundation for Palm Springs Unified. Our board is essential to developing partners to support student learning through technology and the fine arts. Alex was ready to jump in with both feet and his “can do” spirit. He will be greatly missed in our community and the entire Board of Directors join me in sending to you celebrations for the life of this extraordinary young man. Lorraine Becker, Assistant Superintendent, Palm Springs Unified School District.

Murrieta Valley Unified Technology - Jun 2, 2009

Our condolences to all of Alex’s family, friends, co-workers. We recently had the chance to see and visit with him at a district presentation. He was a pleasure to work with. He will be missed.

Banning Unified School District - Jun 2, 2009

The loss of a friend such as Alex is very hard to comprehand and accept. Alex was more of a friend than a business associate. He was always there for us and provided answers that made business sense for us over his corporate gains. Our condolences go out to Alex’s family and friends. We will always keep him in our prayers.

Tammy Martin - Jun 1, 2009

Dan, Karen and family:
I was so shocked to hear about Alex’s sudden passing. He was definitely a great guy and had such goals for his life. It was always nice to see him at church, the greenhouse or when he would stop by the house for a quick visit. Your family has been in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be. God bless you.

All the good fortune and happiness he had, he deserved. Alex, I’ll see you on the other side. Love you bud! Dan, Karen, Mandy and Emily, my deepest condolences. Adam Gilmore

I had the good fortune of graduating from WHS with Alex. We were in several classes together from first grade through high school. He was a model student who always set the bar higher for his fellow classmates. I was a better student for his efforts and am grateful to have known him. His family and friends are in my thoughts tonight. Be well, and may you find peace.

Dan, Karen, Mandy and Emily,
Alex will be deeply missed. His 28 years were way too quick and brief. However, if the measure of our lives is our passion for life and the love of those who surround us, few of us will ever live as well as he did. Take care, we all loved Alex and we all love you.

Becky Lutz - May 23, 2009

Mr. and Mrs. Major, Mandy and Emily,

It sounds like he enjoyed life and made the most out of it, and was always surrouned by great people. He set a great example for all of us to follow, and as aparent here, he will not be forgotten by those who met him. You’re in my thoughts…my deepest sympathy-Becky

Dan, Karen, Mandy, and Emily, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Memories of Alex and his award winning smile will always be with us. Sara and I were talking about how difficult Alex’s death is for us because it is “our family”. We all “grew up” together and shared wonderful times together. Andy DeVene - May 22, 2009

It wasn’t that long ago when we were having the time of our lives. Whether it was building yet another tree house, or putting on a western for our family and friends. Whatever path our lives have taken from those carefree days and no matter how far apart we are, I will cherish every memory of my great friend Alex. Andy DeVene

Brent Bush - May 22, 2009

Dan, Karen, Amanda, and Emily. Thank you for sharing your beloved Alex with all of us. Although we all miss him terribly and the pain seems so unbearable, take comfort in knowing that Alex was a man of great character, integrity, and ambition. He enriched our lives in a way that no one else could, and we’ve all become better citizens because of his angel-like touch. The presence of his memory will always make our hearts smile and brighten-up our darkest days. He often talked about his love for his family, how his parents were his biggest influence and inspiration, and how much he loved sitting next to his dad playing poker. Dan, he embodied your character and charisma. Karen, he carried your beauty and Grace. Amanda, he reflects your style and Poise. And Emily, he loved you with so much passion, it is unmatched or unequaled. We pray that all of his friends and family will have strength and comfort through compassionate healing. Alex “my brotha”, I miss you man. It has been a pleasure and an honor to work side-by-side with you the past few years. Beyond being your mentor in your last sales position, we became great friends. We spent a lot of days and nights together and I will forever cherish those times. Whether it was working on various bid projects, having a brainstorming session, or just goofing-off and sharing lots of laughs, we always parted-ways with that “handshake”, hug, a and smile. You matured into a steady, thoughtful and insightful visionary who left a lasting impact through all that you have touched. You “passed the test my brotha”! You’ve made us all better, and we are forever indebted to your generosity. Thank you for sprinkling so much love in our hearts. Vegas will never be the same, my golf game still stinks, and you’ll always be a better poker player, but I love you anyway brotha! Rest in peace, you deserve it.

Alex took over my position as field rep in San Diego when I was moving back to Chicago. There is no one else I would have trusted to take care of the relationships and customers I built over my time out there. He was wonderful to work with. He was an exceptionally bright and talented man, and I have the utmost respect for him. I remember fondly driving him around his new home and introducing him to the new life he would lead. It is an awful moment when someone so young, talented, and vibrant leaves us. My thoughts are with his family.

The Major family and Emily Miller are in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. I had the extreme privilege of having Alex in my life and as a close friend for the last year and a half. I was one of his first friends in San Diego, and he fit in perfectly with all of my friends, and he was one of us in a matter of an introduction. He was one of those guys who always put a smile on my face, always knew what to say when to say it, and just an overall great, respectable, genuine, and amazing gentleman. Dan and Karen, you two did an amazing job raising Alex as you can tell from the man he had become. His life was tragically taken way too early and he will be greatly missed by my family! I don’t know who my husband is going to call for all those late night poker runs…… but one of the guys will take the WSOP trophy in your honor in June!!! We will miss you sweetheart!!! LOVE YA

Our hearts are sadden hear in Rancho Cucamonga. Some coworkers had the privilege of already knowing Alex and some of us were getting to know him. When first meeting Alex you couldn’t help to notice his professionalism, kindness, and thoughtfulness of other people. One could definitely see he was a man of “Good Character”. We will not focus on the short time we had with him here at NICP but instead we will count it a privilege and blessing to have been able to share some time with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with The Major Family, may you also find comfort in knowing what a great son you raised and how many lives he touched with his kindness. With deepest sympathy,NICP Friends

Erica Messenger - May 20, 2009

Dan, Karen, and Mandy,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was just thinking of Alex Sunday night as I was addressing Nick’s graduation invitations. I thought about what a kick he would get out of Nick’s accomplishments and how he was always so sweet and loving to my boys, especially. He had a unique ability to make you feel welcomed and like a lifelong friend – even if you hadn’t seen him in ages. Within minutes you were all caught up and felt like no time had passed at all! He was an AMAZING person and you can take great comfort in the fact that dad will welcome him with open arms and keep him “entertained” (I can only imagine the trouble they could get into) until we can all see them again. I hope you will continue to feel his presence as I feel dad’s every single day. The best advice I got was this: Never feel sorry for him. He’s fine. He’s safe and happy. But it’s ok to feel sorry for us because we will miss him. But know that he isn’t really gone… he’s just momentarily away. It’s like he’s just in the other room. Dad always said it and it’s just the truth: “Everything’s gonna be alright.” We love you and we’ll see you soon.

Christine Streifel - May 20, 2009

Dan, Karen, Amanda, Emily and all those who were blessed by knowing Alex…
Words can’t express the sympathy I feel. When I took over a new territory at HP the old account manager told me I would LOVE my CDWG rep, Alex. Little did I know that in just a year and a half he would become such a big part of my life. Our tremendous work achievements were based on honesty, trust and always doing the right thing for the schools. Over the months we worked together it was not unusual to hear from customers, “We love Alex”. Trust me, this is not the norm but evidence of the truly remarkable person he was. I loved him like a little brother. Our numerous “work” lunches and dinners quickly shifted from computers to long deep conversations about values, family, love, life, health, hopes, dreams, spirituality and some not so deep conversations about gadgets, yoga, surfing, biking and hiking. Alex had a gift for disarming you with his gentle nature and sweet smile. His friendship was unconditional and allowed me to be candid and open in a way that doesn’t come natural. He openly shared his feelings and was one of the most honest and genuine people I have ever met. Emily told me Sunday night in the car that she could be 100% herself with him. I understand that completely and think we were all blessed to receive that gift. I know without a doubt that the strength of the past few days has come from God and Alex. I KNOW Alex is an Angel looking over us all right now with unconditional love. Rest in Peace my friend, when the sun sets behind that mountain I will always think of you.

My condolences. I was blessed to spend quite some time with Alex at Miami and as a roommate in Chicago for several years. Throughout those great times Alex was always full of positive energy and made everyone around him a better person. He could make anyone laugh at anytime during any circumstance. I will always love and miss my good friend Alex, a class-act all the way.

Dear Dan, Karen, and Mandy, as well as Emily,
I am saddened about the news about Alex. I heard so many great stories about him. I have only lived in Willard for 9 years, but am so impressed with your family. Dan, you were a great boss, and Karen, you are a fantastic caring teacher whom my boys loved. Mandy, just in our phone conversation Monday night, you showed so much compassion and poise. Emily, I know you and Alex were so close and I am sure you are a super young lady. My thoughts and prayers , as well as my family’s prayers, are with all of you. Alex added so much in his short life. May you treasure all your memories and know that someday you will understand the mystery of his untimely death–he is with you and you will see him again. May God’s peace be with you in time.

To the Major family, Emily and all those who knew Alex, this is a tremendous loss to process. I have known Alex through our working relationship for over 4 years and over the course of that time formed a very strong friendship as well. Alex was genuine, and honest and such a gentle soul. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the chance to know him.

Maria Ingram - May 20, 2009

I worked with Alex every week for the entire time he was in So. Cal. I met him when he first arrived at a beatiful ocean view spot in Laguna. i was there yesterday and thought of that meeting. On behalf of his friends at Cisco, we are in shock and so sad of his un-timely passing. We are not yet processing the tragedy. I keep telling everyone that whenever we had an issue about an account and Alex was frustrated with me, he would call and leave me a message telling me to call him right away and he was not happy and we had to deal with it.. I would call and I would say “Hi Alex, it’s Maria” He would say “Hey Maria, What’s up” in that way, he he had in saying those words…. I would say, “You’re upset with me and….” He would then say “oh, don’t worry about it.. I’m fine” and we would have a great conversation.. I smile and laugh every time I think about that.. He will be missed by me, personally and our entire Cisco Team..

My condolences to the loving family and friends of Alex and to the many many other people he touched. Alex’s passing is the unspeakably tragic loss of an incredible young man.
Alex was an active and faithful member of the Menifee USD Tech Plan Development Committee and worked for many months with me to develop the current Menifee USD Technology Plan. He was also an extremely intelligent, honest, hard-working, accessible, and unassuming professional that we counted on regularly.

Alex spoke many times about his girlfriend in Ohio of several years and how he couldn’t wait for her to finish college, join him on the West Coast and begin their life together. Emily finally moved out here some months ago and we were all so happy for both of them.
Just two weeks ago he announced the difficult decision to leave CDW/G for a new employer that offered him a sales management position with a larger territory and an excellent package. Many of my colleagues in the tech biz were as surprised and saddened as I that our relationship with Alex as our reliable CDW/G rep was coming to a close. At the same time we were also very excited for him in his new endeavors.

Alex was an amazing guy and a superb human being. I am among so many others who will miss him greatly.

Greg and Marilyn Sands - May 19, 2009

Alex was as beautiful on the inside as he was on the outside. His quick wit, radiant smile and ability to fit in with any age group made him at home anywhere. However, his true home was with his parents, sister, Mandy and girlfriend,Emily. All of us who knew him and loved him were better for it. May God keep his family and friends in His care. May God Bless you Alex as we all love and miss you.

Carolyn and Chris Normant - May 19, 2009

Alex touched the lives of many and we consider ourselves lucky to have been some of those who knew him. His caring and loving personality will be missed and remembered fondly in our hearts. Our thoughts are with his family in this time of loss.
